Q: Tell us about your experience, good and bad, with your dentist.
A: Nice guy, really liked the dentist. A letter came saying they were stopping their NHS provision and my choices were to go private or stop accessing care, so I’ve stopped going for routine checks, will only go as and when I need to now.

Q: Tell us about your experience, good and bad, with your dentist.
A: I had a dental plan which covered checkups & if treatment was needed my dentist did it on the NHS. The practice was sold & now no longer does NHS & the charges are very high. I’ve for another dentist but so far none I’ve tried are taking on new NHS patients.

Q: Tell us about your experience, good and bad, with your dentist.
A: Been with my dentist for 40 years as an NHS patient. Attended regular check ups and hygiene appointments.
Since starting menopause my teeth have been affected . Started treatment and all ok .
When went back was told I was no longer on their list and would need private care.
2 weeks ago started with toothache which gradually worsened ( never experienced toothache before). Tried my dentist practice again to see if they could help . Was told it was £98 consultation and if needed an extraction would be £350.
Told to ring 111 dental line which I did . Was impressed as call answered fairly quickly .
Was given a code and telephone number to ring.
Rang this number from 9.30am up to 3.20pm when I spoke to a lovely lady. She was unable to give me an appointment the following day as all been booked.
She offered me one for 2 days after but would need to travel to Llangollen. I didn’t hesitate to say yes despite having to travel but it was worth it.
Seen by Dentist and had an X-ray which confirmed infection in the problem tooth and would need extraction to which I agreed.
Given antibiotics and appointment for 2weeks later.
The X-ray showed I need a filling asap in the tooth next to problem one but he couldn’t do it as only dealt with the pain /problem one and and would have to ring around dental practices to see if anyone could take me on as an NHS patient as the emergency dentist I saw the practice were not taking on patients.

I feel if I could get regular dental care as I previously was lucky to have my dental problems would not have got to the stage it has as would of been picked up earlier.

We need more dentists and they should be encouraged to have NHS patients especially with cost of living crisis .
Our oral care is just as important as our physical health.

A: Haven’t had a dentist for seven years (removed as I did not have the expensive treatment as they had me as a private patient when I was taken in as NHS. Been on waiting lists for four years and counting but no joy. Had to use emergency dentist which is appalling had to ring line over 500 times over three days to get an appointment. Not fit for purpose when you’re in intense pain and at risk of sepsis! Truly shocking. More 19th century than even 20th century. Due to greedy dentists and poor payments from Wakes NHS. Not as bad in England so why are we the poor relations?
