In the past few months, seven dental practices across north Wales have closed their doors to NHS patients because of new contract arrangements imposed by the Welsh Government. Just 27% of patients across north Wales now have access to NHS dental care, with the rest either forced to pay hundreds of pounds extra each year for private treatment or go without dental care. This is having a huge impact on people's long-term health.
Dros y misoedd diwethaf, mae saith deintyddfa yng ngogledd Cymru wedi cau eu drysau i gleifion y GIG oherwydd trefniadau contract newydd a osodwyd gan Lywodraeth Cymru. Dim ond 27% o gleifion ar draws gogledd Cymru sydd bellach â mynediad i ofal deintyddol y GIG, gyda’r gweddill naill ai’n cael eu gorfodi i dalu cannoedd o bunnoedd yn ychwanegol bob blwyddyn am driniaeth breifat neu fynd heb ofal deintyddol. Mae hyn yn cael effaith enfawr ar iechyd hirdymor pobl.
Rydym ni, sydd wedi llofnodi isod, yn galw ar Lywodraeth Cymru a bwrdd iechyd Betsi Cadwaladr i sicrhau bod contractau deintyddol GIG digonol yn y Gogledd.
We, the undersigned, call on the Welsh Government and Betsi Cadwaladr health board to ensure there are adequate NHS dental contracts in north Wales.
